Water seepage - wall

I called Outsurance emergency number at 19h54 on 21 February 2017 as water was seeping down my bedroom wall during yesterday’s torrential rains. Initially the call centre agent stated that I must call at 7 am on 22 February 2017. I was irate and I was concerned about the damage to the wall and carpet and I said so. The call centre was not very knowledgeable about the incident and he had to consult with his supervisor on the issue. The call centre agent returned and reassured me that he will get a builder out to action a temporary job. The Outsurance call centre agent called back around 20h56 stating he is connecting with builders but the builders do not have maintenance staff after hours. The plumbers cannot get on the roof due to the heavy rains; understandable. The Outsurance agent and I agreed that I will try and put some papers down for absorption etc. and he will get an Outsurance agent to assist at 7 am on 22 February 2017.

On 22 February 2017, I receive a call from Outsurance agent at 08h56!!! I am irate due to:

My claim was not registered last night…why not?
Why did I not receive a call at 7 am promptly this morning?
The excess is R2000 that I must pay out of my pocket!!! Why is it so much? I do not have this money on hand currently! I am livid as I pay monthly and I must pay so much for a job whereby my property is getting damaged further!!!! Why do I pay an insurance on my property???

So the water seepage continues as I don’t have R2000 on me currently; further damage!!! Outsurance was good as providing me with a renewal document with the increase in my insurance premiums yet….. you go figure!

Truly disappointed at Outsurance – all about money and not prompt efficient service!! Time to switch over….

Hi Sun68,
Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. Andrea our claim manager has tried calling you but has been unsuccessful in her attempts. She subsequently sent you an email apologizing for the miscommunication between the advisors. She has also asked if the leak still persisted and if so she gave you details of the manager on duty. She did discuss the excess with you. She has left you her contact details for future reference. Sorry for the poor experience.
Regards, Kelvin
