Warning to Pensioners

<p>Outsurance advertise that pensioners are exempt from excess but fail to mention that you have to phone them when you turn 65 to register. I am a 70 year old male and have been with outsurance for many years. In 2016 I had an accident through no fault of mine but because no pictures and no witnessess, I could not prove fault. I still had to pay excess although I was 69 at the time. Two weeks ago I had another accident, again through no fault of mine. The claim is being processed currently by Outsurance. I phoned about the excess as I assumed because of the accident last year I would now have been registered but I have been told that I was not and again do not qualify for the exemption because I did not phone and register when I turned 65 or at any time since. I believe I am registered now but have to pay excess for this claim. So take heed all you pensioners. Do not think you will automatically qualify when you turn 65 years even although outsurance has your ID number. You have actively got to phone them and inform them that you have reached that age, have retired and request to be registered for the excess exemption. Too late after the event. </p>
