Very disappointed

On the 22/01/2024 my nissan navara double cab was in a rear end accident by a full ugu bus ( the same size bus as a greyhound bus) we were stationary at a robot that was off due to load shedding. we reported the accident to outsurance on the 22/01/2024 and was advised to use there portal and upload pictures and the information needed for the claim. Molefe Matsepa was appointed my claims advisor he contacted me saying the bakkie has been assessed on the portal and that the cost for repairs come up to R34 700-00, i questioned how they got that sum as the bakkie has not even been properly assessed? his response was it will be once status panel beaters strips it and checks for additional damages. i notified him that my bakkie had noises coming from the front right wheel and was vibrating when driving over 60km. he advised i call status and address the concerns with them which i did on the 23 i took my bakkie to status and they went through the job card the received from molefe, i was thenm notified that second hand parts were going to be used on my bakkie for repairs ( molefe did not notify me of this) i proceeded to tell them about the other problems on my bakkie and they said they would take it for wheel alignment , which they did with out giving me any outcome other than it was ok to drive and i must take it back home till they call for it. i notified molefe that i was unhappy and wanted to take my bakkie for a second option , on the 24/01/2024 i took my bakkie to the marburg testing grounds and explained the accident they put my bakked over the inspection bed and found i had a major oil leak at my engine, they advised me to take pictures and to take it back to status panel beaters to notify them of the findings, to which i did and once again was to its OK to drive and to take it home again i contacted molefe immediately and sent him the pictures of the oil leak and told him i refuse to drive the bakkie any longer they must tow it from my property to the panel beaters. on the 29/01/2024 my bakkie was towed to status status panel beaters requested to take my vehicle to a RMI workshop to have a full mechanical inspection done , but this was declined by outsurance. i called outsurance to find out why it was declined and Mr Abdul Ishmail told me it was not declined he just requested more pictures ( recording will prove this) this was on the 31/01/2024 We never got reports from molefe to notify us on job cards or rejections . we expressed our dissatisfaction may times on the 6/02/2024 Lelo Msomi emailed me requesting we settle the claim directly to me in cash as per the authorised amount of R32 523.78 after excess has been deducted, i refused this offer as my bakkie was not properly assessed and this was the amount given over only the pictures i sent. on the 7/02/2024 i went in status panel beaters to find out what was happening with my bakkie but was asked if i was there to collect it as it was taken off there books. we called outsurance from there office to find out what was going on, we were told that the bakkie was being moved to margate panel beaters ( once again no communication from molefe)

My bakkie arrived at Margate panel beaters. on the 12/02/2024 the was assessed but again the mechanical side was not. i went to the workshop whereby we went through outsurances job card given to them and i asked if my oil leak and noises from my right hand side front was checked which they rep**** NO , in one of the pictures margate panel beaters sent to molefe it was noticed that my engine check light was on . i inquired if diagnostics had been done on my bakkie to which yet again the reply was NO. I requested that these be checked as i wanted a proper report on the damaged to my bakkie. they asked me to give them until 26 which i did . they rep**** with a full report of the damage and told me,my mechanical damage was rejected . ( yet again NO communication from molefe)

the claim has since goes from R32 523.78 TO R76 187.05 WITH OUT THE REPAIRS TO MY MECHANICAL DAMAGES. WHEN REQUESTING THE PAPERWORK FROM MOLEFE only half a damage report was given not the full one showing the mechanical damages , no writen rejection copies his reply on email reads as follows " good day Miss Dominique Phelan hope you are well. please find the attached damage report as per your request?we don't have a report or copy of additional requested which was not approved because the repairer and the assessor communicate online? no written documents between them? thanks regards Molefe Matsepa" In my policy it states we will be given written reasons for repudiating your claim which has never been done.

ive explained to molefe that my back right wheel received impact during my accident and that the report the margate pannel beaters gave show parts on my drive drain had been damaged ;eg my gearbox mounting ,crank seals and sump gasket. my front right hand shock is also damaged and alot of my sensors. his reply was that those damages were exciting as if you get hit from the back end your front end cant get damaged. i then explained to him that i have gone on the internet to get supporting evidence to prove that my components can get damaged during a rear end . he requested i email it to him which i did.

no further update has been made . and i've been sitting with out my vehicle for over a month and with no end in site. I will never recommend them to any to anyone and make sure my family and friends change there insurance

Good day Dominique,

Not good to hear about the accident. We hope no one was injured.

Further to our private response, we can confirm that our assessing management team have reviewed the matter.

Your vehicle was sent to the specialist engineers for a diagnostic report. Suren our assessor, had a meeting with you to go through the report in detail. There were several concerns which Suren raised with you such as the vehicle was in a previous accident, vehicle not in a roadworthy condition etc. The specialist report indicated several items were damaged due to wear and tear and previous poor workmanship. Our claims team will be in touch with you to finalise the claim.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to look into the matter. Apologies for your experience.

Regards,
The OUTsurance Team
