Unsatisfactory Service on an claims

With the heavy rain and flooding, our Isuzu was damaged due to the excessive water. We took the vehicle for assessment as requested by Outsurance. The claim was approved and instructions was given to the Panelbearers to do the following:

1. Supply and fit: headlights, grill

2. Outwork: Valet & Diagnostic test

3. Strip and assemble: Engine components, Frontal components and mechanical components.

My QUESTION AND CONCERN NOW: Why was only diagnostics done and not the Engen components, Frontal components and Mechanical components? Diagnostics does not pick up any mechanical damage to the vehicle it is only for electrical and censors.

We took the vehicle for an secvond opinion and was told that further testing would be required on the Engine.

Why am I paying R5 500.00 excess for NO work that was done? I could have replaced the head lights and grill with the excess amount.

This will be taken further to the Ombudsman for review as Outsuranc is not placing us back to where our vehicle was when we took out the policy, our vehicle is worse off than before.

Can you please advise urgently. Our advisor was Mr. Charlton Naidoo and the assessor was Jean Viljoen

Hi Nicolette,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As discussed telephonically we are doing the full test on the engine as well.
Regarding the excess, if the claim amount is less than the excess you will self insure as is the norm in the industry.
We do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Regards,
Kelvin
