Unhappy and offended
I logged a claim on 18 February 2019 for my shop that flooded in the store room due to the next door tenants shower that leaked from the geyser. It is my 3rd claim in 4 months but totally out of my control as all 3 claims was due to floods. I first tried to claim through my landlords insurance as it's his building, but was unsuccessful. A guy by the name of Wesley told me to contact back if I'm not successful with my landlords insurance. They sent out an assessor by the name of Corné Du Bruyn and the owner of DryTech (their service provider) to come to my shop and assess the damages etc. The service provider and the assessor tried to intimidate me and said that they will not replace the items that is damaged that they will just ozone treat and dry clean the garments. It is not acceptable at all. I'm a reputable local boutique with a good reputation and I refuse to sell garments that was just ozone treated. The smell that's hanging in the store room is ********** and mouldy and my clothes and carpets and mannequins has a fowl smell. I refuse to hang my clothes on those mannequins and the wedding dresses and clothes that was affected by this geyser that leaked and shower smell. They also told me that they will do an ITC check on me and they recorded me and took lots of photos even of the shop and sections where there is no damages. I'm insured and this is a valid claim and I want my claim to be handled correctly. I need to replace the goods that is damaged and I should be respected as an outsurance client. This is very traumatic to go through and then the outsurance assessor and service provider makes me feel like a ********. It's not acceptable. I'm an honorable person and feel highly offended by this.
