********* practice - increasing excesses and insured values

I have been a customer with Outsurance for over 5 years. When client's enter into an insurance agreement we have to agree to the terms of the arrangement. I was most horrified to find out the following. I put in an accident claim today only to find out it my excess is approx R5000 when I agreed to an excess of under R3500 when initially taking out my insurance. As a client i do understand that premiums increase annually and expect this but dont you think it is ********* to start increasing the excess without explicitly disclosing this to your clients. What I also found out is that I insured my contents for approx R250 000. The insured value is now greater than R400000. You cannot assume I have the same goods and hence the replacement value increases. In my opinion this in not in line with TCF principles and I am horrified that you apply this practice in your business. I would like a formal response. Next step is to lay a complaint with the Insurance Ombud.
