Third Party Claim - Who gets something out??

Wrong slogan!! I got NOTHING out!! People save yourself the stress and don’t ever use this company!!

I lodged a third party claim against a client of Outsurance. I am totally dissatisfied with the service received as well as the claim amount that Outsurance deam as fair to compensate for the damage caused.

The Outsurance insured individual reversed into our vehicle on a private road. His carport is on the main road(ie. no driveway, etc). He admittedly did not look when he reversed and drove into my mothers vehicle as she was driving past. Totally not her fault at all!

I obtained 3 quotations from different panelbeaters.

A week later Outsurance arranged for me to take the vehicle to an assessment centre in Pietermaritzburg.

We received the assessment and the assessment amount was approximately R6000 less than the lowest quotation we had obtained. Further more the “Repairer” listed in the assessment had quoted us almost 3 times the value of the assessment. How is this possible?? It constitutes ***** in my mind!! Outsurance advised that they get preferential rates, I cant believe that they receive such “Discounted” charges!

Im aware that Outsurance places certain liabilities on each driver however they are being totally unreasonable and are willing to compensate just over 50% of the assessment total. However to place such a large liability on my mother, leaves her “out of pocket” and her having to pay for 50% of the vehicle repairs, when she was not to blame in this incident.

So basically the value that Outsurance would contribute would be equivalent to 30% of my lowest quote, and only 45% of their assessment value.

The ONLY ones getting something out of this deal is an ********* panelbeater and Outsurance.

Good day Nadia,

Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention.

Ike our legal manager contacted you to address your concerns and to discuss the merits of the claim in detail. Our decision for the apportionment was based on the information at our disposal as well as the Apportionment of Damages Act and case studies.

We do apologise for the disappointment.

Regards,
OUTsurance
