Take Insurance from anyone else, you are labelled a multiple claimant after one claim.
I took building insurance with Outsurance on 2 seperate properties, I claimed once on each property 4 years, claims for incidents that were out of my control. This is what one takes out insurance for. So this passed weekend we had very heavy rain and storms in Jhb, my lounge was drenched in water and the wooden flooring is damaged to the point where we have to replace. I contacted outsurance now and asked if we could claim because of storm damage and they registered a claim, at the end of the call, she said please note that I am a multiple claimer, I was shocked at this label as I claimed 4 years ago, 1 on each property. My policy could be cancelled or premiums increased. A multiple claimant to anybody suggests that one is claiming 2-3 times a year or even more so, not 1 claim in the last 4 years to 1 specific property. She also stated that the property could have had their own policy number registered, when I took out the insurance policy, the lady, told me that because I own 2 properties, to add both on 1 policy. Firstly, how can I be labelled as a multiple claimer after 1 claim on each property 4 years ago? Secondly, is this not what one takes out insurance for? Things happen that are out of a person's control, like a bad storm, but as a client at Outsurance, you have to tell the storm, please don't damage my property because Outsurance will label me as a multiple claimant. I recently got a quote from Discovery, that was much better but I was loyal to Outsurance and didn't want to move. We have household content, car and building with Outsurance, there's isnt any loyalty to the customer, we are just going to move all our policies after hearing this. All those adverts you see that give you the best price, they don't actually tell you what happens once you claim, they just try to catch with the best price. Don't be fooled by Oursurance, take insurance with anyone else.
