****** Car then Insufficient money in the jar.
My car was ****** and according to OUTsurance, despite the premium that was agreed to being payed (R70 000), they only wanted to give us 31 000 which we had to fight for to get 37 000. THEY HAD TO PAY 70 000! but didn't because 'we couldn't provide a photo of my car proving the state that it was in before being ******'. I ask you now, how many people takes regular photo's of their cars to prove that every inch is still good? I however only have photos of fragments of my car being shown. That requirement however doesn't mean squat if the agreed for premium was successfully payed each month since we signed up for it, WHICH WE DID!! Feels like we were ****** twice... My car was ****** last year 7 November 2016 from inside the yard behind an electric motor gait. The time period from which it was ****** was between 2AM and 6AM in the morning since I was up until two and even had checked outside just out of habit whilst washing my hands. My mother wakes at 5 and only noticed the car was gone at around 6AM from where the gate battery was busted to open the gate. Seems they broke the back window which somehow must be the reason why the alarm didn't go off. Either way they knew what they were doing. Police arrived, but only did their required work. Never heard anything from the inspector since. Why this was brought up is that I'm still without a car and that THAT money would've helped a great deal. Especially in times like were living in today.
Hello heinrich-freese
We are truly sorry to see you are still without a vehicle.
We want to assure you, however, we did not err in our settlement amount.
Our claims manager, Camren did e-mail your mom the detail of the settlement. In the event of a total loss, we will always settle at the latest values less excess. Our actuaries increased the settlement amount based on the mileage of your vehicle. We also confirm at no point was the vehicle insured for R70 000. When your vehicle was added onto cover in 2013, the retail value was R40 700.
We settled the claim at the retail value as it were in December 2016. Camren did provide your mom with his contact detail should you wish to discuss the matter further.
Regards
Dinky
