Stay away from Outsurance!!!
I made a claim in response to a burglary that occurred at my place of residence earlier this month.
My house was burglarized on Thursday 8 September 2022, while I was at work and several items were ******. This burglary case was reported at the Kleinvlei Police Station.
I contacted Outsurance to claim the items that were ******. They asked me to send a list of the items. This list was sent and it constituted a total of about 30 items.
Thereafter, they also asked me to send pictures and prices of the items that were ******. When I informed them that I didn't have those pictures and that I also didn't know all the prices, as some of them were gifts, then I suggested that I will find similar pictures online and they agreed.
An assessor by the name of Zayne Mohamed Pillay was assigned to this claim. He contacted me and came for his assessment on 15 September 2022 at 15:30 to my house. He did his assessment and asked me for information pertaining to the Items I had listed. He recorded all our conversations. He spoke of a 6-piece AMC pot set and I corrected him that it was not. I mentioned that if it's a set of 6 then the stove might be the sixth one. According to his verbal discussion, my claim was rejected on the fact that I had claimed 6 pots. Nowhere in my claim and in my recordings did I claim for 6 pots. When Sibusiso asked me to put visual pictures of the items on my list, I downloaded pictures and that picture had six pots. If this is what the rejection is based on. It is based on false information. My claim and the recording can attest to that.
Secondly, if your discrepancy was based on the pots, what about the rest of my claim, containing items that you were deducting monthly premiums for, for the past 3 years?
After completing his assessment he found no discrepancies besides the AMC pots and the irons. Then he came over to my work to clarify these discrepancies at the workplace on the 21st of September 2022. The following day he called me in the evening and falsely accused me of having *****ed the company for 6 pots. I then requested that he goes back to the recordings he made on the day of the first assessment. He responded by saying that I would need to take that up with a different department and that he would send me an e-mail that states in writing what he mentioned verbally. He promised to send the e-mail on that very same day (22 September 2022). To this day I have not received the detailed e-mail. When I reminded him today, he sent me a computer-generated response without any specifics of why my claim was rejected.
As we stand, I don't have insurance, I have not received my claim and I don't have a written reason why my claim has been rejected. Their action will also affect my premiums when I approach other insurance companies.
I am still questioning why my claim we rejected by Outsurance as I still have not received a written rejection letter patterning to my claim besides an automated general response to people that have *****ed the company. This does not apply to me as you have not proven to me how I have *****ed your company.
When you join Outsurance, they don't come to assess the items that you have insured. Nor are you told to take pictures of the items. Neither are you told to know the prices of items given to you as gifts? They are also faithful in deducting their premiums. However, they are highly unfaithful when the time comes for them to pay out your claim.
Also, when you are rejected, they don't give detail in writing for the rejection of your claim.
Since you approached the Ombudsman, we are not authorised to have direct interactions with you.
We will await feedback from the Ombud in order for us to advise further.

I mentioned that failure to do so would lead to this matter being taken to Ombudsman. Not only did I send that e-mail but I also called OUTsurance and I was sent from pillar to post until I emailed and asked for proof that this matter is being handled by the Dispute Department.
The least that you can do for me is to give me evidence of your accusations.
