Shocking security checks - or lack thereof!

<p>I am quite shocked at the lack of security when changing banking details with Outsurance. </p> <p>My sister is unemployed and as a result is unable to pay the insurance on her vehicle. After numerous unsuccessful attempts at gaining Outsurance banking details in order to EFT the premium (for some reason they claim not to have banking details and refuse to give them out) I agreed that the debit order can go off my account.</p> <p>She telephoned the call centre and changed all the debit order details to my bank account with no problem - great service you might think. And yes, you would be partially correct. However, not once did the agent request confirmation from the owner of the bank account (I do not share the same name as my sister). You cannot gain information from Outsurance about a policy without passing various security checks, however you are quite welcome to change banking details to an account whose owner does not even share your name.</p> <p>I find this really scary as in theory, you could call Outsurance with any random bank account information and have your premiums paid by owner of said random account. This is open to seriously dangerous abuse. I don't know whether this was just due to the particular agent not following rules, or whether this is company policy, but whatever the reason, it needs to change.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
