******* insurance
My car had an accident on the 25 March 2018 and i put in a claim with outsurance as my insurer. The claim was authorised for repairing the car. Two weeks later i get a text message from the panel beaters informing me that they are currently waiting for another authorisation from my insurance for additional parts that were needed to do a complete job on the car. I asked the panel beaters why were the additional parts not included on the initial quotation that was approved, and i was told that the car had to be st**********. Two day later i get a call from one of the consultants from outsurance Charlton Naidoo and informed me that my car was a write off due to the additional parts which exceeded the maximum threshold. This was a shook to me as my car was repairable two weeks ago. I asked the consultant what options are there for us to resolve the claim as i was not in agreement with what they wanted to do. The maximum threshold the insurance can pay R58000 and the total cost of the quotation with the additional parts is R61000. I have asked them to pay the difference and continue to fix my car but said that was not possible because my car was still under finance by my bank. I went to my bank to enquirer about this and the bank said they do not get involve with claims between the client and the insurance company, we both need to resolve this situation on our own. The only time they are in touch with the insurance is when i have agreed with the insurance company to write off my car.
I am so frustrated because they are not giving me any other alternative except to write off my car and i am not willing to let them do that. If they do not resolve this claim soonest i will take the matter up with ombudsman because this is a ******* .
Hello LithakaziZamaNguni
We are very sorry to read about the inconsistent feedback you have received to date.
Our claims manager contacted you with an apology. She confirmed the vehicle is a write-off and not advisable to repair.
Since the vehicle is still being financed, we can unfortunately not offer you a disclaimer.
We know you are not happy with our decision and are sorry about the disappointment.
