Ridiculous Premiums

Good day, I was contacted and have to wonder why do Outsurance contact you if they have no intention of helping you... While the person who phoned was courteous and friendly, which I appreciate, they tried explaining something that didn't make any sense with no intention to resolve my query. To summarise, Outsurance treated me as a new customer when I tried to back even though I had been with them for 10+ years before leaving in the last 3 months. As a 'new customer', Outsurance now quoted me approximately R890 for my car which I was insured with them 3 months ago and paid only R500. My insurer that I am currently with charges me R350 for the same criteria I used with Outsurance. Apparently Outsurance were charging me a discounted premium when they quoted in 2007 and every time I tried to move they gave me further discounts to keep me and were running a loss compared to other insurance companies even though insurers wanted to do business at that premium. Since they advertised that they pay R800 for a 'new customer' if they cannot beat your quote, I inquired about this and am waiting for a response. They will probably now say I am not a 'new customer' as it suits them and they pick and choose when to treat you as such. Bottom line As of today, I can get premiums of R350 from Momentum, Alexander Forbes & Discovery yet for the same vehicle Outsurance wanted to charge me R890 for! I wish I had looked to change insurer sooner...
