Reactive Assistance vs Proactive Assistance

Good Day

To whom it may concern

I have content insurance with the Outsurance Group.

Yesterday 09/01/2016 we had an incident whereby a vehicle was broken into and we managed to get the ******* away in time.

We arranged for the vehicle to be moved and the repairs to be done.

This however resulted in a lot of commotion and negative attention on the property.

Out of fear of this may result in a life threating situation I contact the Help@Out assistance and 10111 to assist in calming our surroundings.

The lady assisted me with the request to allocate a possible security guard until the commission dies down however there was no security on duty at the time as it was already 21:35 and suggested I contact today to see if Outsurance can assist.

Thereafter I told my wife that’s why I pay so much money as I was satisfied with her attempts

Today I contacted Outsurance and was blatantly advised by a consultant that “everybody looks into people’s properties and if my family do not feel safe we need to “beef up the security” as you only have content insurance etc.

So harsh and cold statement I thought this is not a representative of the Outsurance brand.

I do agree with enhancing security but this will only happen over time as I need to arrange with the Landlord first.

Thereafter numerous concerns populated

Does Outsurance only have a reactive approach?

Do they want you to end up in a life threating situation before assisting?

In an event where its life threatening ******* what is the stance of my insurer?

The consultant did not even recommend this as a future service enhancer?

Is this the company I want to pay month on month? ( Outsurance is not the cheapest around).

I guess insurance all the insurers are the same and there is nothing different from one another.

All this marketing from Outsurance is merely to get customers buy into the expensive premiums

I am utterly disappointed even though there the policy wording specify clearly indicate when assistance can be granted , I still feel we need to consider the possible danger of the reactive approach and rather be proactive to save money for both parties.

This is terrifying what you describe! Glad no one was physically harmed. We will appoint a guard for this evening to ensure the situation remains calm. In the future if your security is compromised in terms of a broken door/window etc. we will appoint a guard up until the damage is repaired. Please note for general security the onus is upon you as the client to upgrade the security and/or get armed response or join part of a community watch to name a few options.

Regards, Kelvin
