Rain Does Not Cause Damage; Lack of Maintenance Does
I have an Outsurance policy for my car and, despite some ups and downs, I am mostly satisfied with Outsurance. My mother has Outsurance for her house. This morning the assessor came and said effectively it was not the rain that had caused water stains on the ceiling but rather it was a lack of maintenance. The rains have been heavy and I did not see the water damage in my mother's house on my previous visit. It feels like Outsurance simply does not want to pay.
Thankfully, my house is insured with a different company and when the rains caused damage, the insurer sent out a team the following day to fix it. I was contemplating possibly moving my house insurance one day to Outsurance but that is not going to happen right now. I feel safer sticking with an insurance company that actually fixes a problem caused by the heavy rains.
I am still trying to decide if I should talk my mother into changing to my insurer.
