Quoted two different retail values and payed the lesser

I am a young 20 year old gentlemen who borrowed my father's car to take two youngs boys home as my friend was under the influence of alcohol, and I opted to drive them home as I hadn't been drinking and was in an accident on the way to drop them off at home and resulted in the car being written off. We organised the vehicle to be towed away to a tow yard and contacted outsurance in the following days to come as we didn't know as to how the process works. The excess added up to over R8500 because I was the individual driving it and we went through a very long process of getting insurance to pay out. My dad had gotten a phone call from an outsurance consultant and they said that the retail value of my dads car was R70000 and a few days later they phoned and said that it was R49000. We did ask questions and they never got back to us about the two different amounts told to us. They also said they'd contact us and they did not such thing. I am sure that there is recording proof of the two different quotes and the inquiry made on our side. I just feel that we have been messed around as the towing came close to 8000 and they only covered 2200. Then on top of that they paid us less then quoted on retail and the huge excess has left us with such a small amount in which my father can look at purchasing a new car and we've looked at cars that were the exact same and they are all selling at around 70 ********** 0. My father is over all the lengthy phone calls and paperwork hassles and just doesn't feel up to taking this issue any further and I want to help my father get more money from outsurance as they are really not as great as they advertise to be and I have had heard alot of similar issues through people that I work with in the motor industry and they all say that outsurance is the worst insurance when it comes to paying out true values and amounts and they charge the most ridiculous excesses of all insurance company's. And on top of all that my dad has been claim free and never submitted a claim through to outsurance on the vehicle since we've owned it and we feel that we really haven't been treated like respected and loyal customers. We've always paid on time and never missed a payment. We are truly unhappy customers and feel as though we have been misled and been given false assumptions and false expectencys
