Property Insurance
Bought a property in 2005 which came with insurance for property and the outside walls/fence. It was pre-cast wall which I found when I purchased the property. Come Jan 2019, the wall fell and reported it, after inspection they refused to pay saying the wall foundation didn't have enough concrete when it was built. How was I supposed to know that? Day light *******. I am not impressed with outsurance at all and I am still sourcing help to get them to pay.

24 Nov 2021, 07:26Hello Miss Daba
Thank you for providing us with the claim number,
We understand your disappointment and the financial burden which was placed on you after we rejected the claim in 2019.
The claim was rejected as damage was caused by gradual deterioration, as was confirmed by the service provider's report. Gradual wear and tear is not a claimable event.
You then referred the matter to the offices of the Ombudsman for short term insurance, who upheld our decision.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to have clarified our decision.

Clearly my understanding is shallow, I still feel agrieved and ****** blindly.
1. The gradual deteriotration was caused by a weak foundation, not enough concrete was put at the time of building. This is what I was told after inspection.
2. My take is, I took up cover unknowing to this fact. Remember property was bought with a built up wall.
3. If this is an issue and as lay person my question is , was I supposed to dig up the foundation and see how strong it was before taking cover?
4. It is justified for Outsurance to go to lengths of checking everything before they pay out for any damage, but equally so, they shouldn't cover what they know isn't worth covering.
5. My history with Outsurance and what they have on record should show that apart from burst geyser, I haven't claimed which should prove that I am a loyal, resposible and honest customer.
6. Therefore, as a customer that has been paying diligently from 2005, need to put on record that Iam very dissapointed with the service I received from Outsurance.
