I am insured with Outsurance and I just received a phone call from them where they asked me to nominate and give them contact details of persons within my private circle of family, friends, and colleagues for a discount on my premium. This is not the first time they called me for that.
Is this legal with regards to the Protection of Personal Information (PoPI) Act or any other privacy-related regulation?

16 May 2019, 15:33Now I received a call with a vague explanation that does not make sense at all. I am just requesting a simple explanation of why it is legal to ask for contact details of private persons. Nobody would like to have its private phone number and contact details to be spread around without consent.
