POOR SERVICE
I will never EVER recommend Outsurance to anybody. It seems they'll will do everything in their power to reject a claim - especially for Building claims. They invoke the 'poor workmanship' AND "policy wording" legal catch-all wherever possible.I recently had a claim rejected but the poor service and overall disgust from the so called managers/assessors got me to cancelling both my personal and business policies with them.
We recently had some rain damage due to storm in Cape Town The toilet started leaking (which i fixed my self) the walls was seeping water and by extension damaged my screed floors. They simply rejected the claim with 'it wasn't peril related' - it's basic 'poor workmanship'. This is where a large broker would come in handy to help apply pressure.
I moved both my personal and business policies to Outsurance over a year ago which has to be the biggest mistake I've made. Even though I have an official Outsurance broker, this meant absolutely nothing. I was made to call/deal directly with the callcentre(brokers dont get involved!?) and even personally call up service providers because all their other SP'S on their books we inundated with claims. I ask, what is the point of having a broker if they do nothing for you? or are they just glorified salesman?
Eventually after 3 weeks of s****ping quotes they sent their own assessor to survey the damage and looked like the process was finally in motion. Thomas Smit called me and told me the claim was being processed and will be resolved soonest.
Out of the blue I receive a call from another Outsurance assessor (Stephen Addendagh) stating he was coming to assess the damage. After his "assessment" he decided to deny the claim. I called up my broker and explained what happened and he told me he will investigate the matter further. To this day, I'm still waiting on a report for why the claim was denied.
Today I received a call from a Riaan Cronje for what I don't know!? The condescension and patronizing was astonishing which was the final straw. If the call was meant to retain me as a client he failed, if anything he justified my decision to cancel all my policies.
Interestingly a number of friends and family members mentioned the same or similar bad experiences they have had with Outsurance over the past few years. There's a lot more I have to say but dealing with and insurer like Outsurance - you basically have no recourse.
As of today, I informed my broker to cancel my business and personal policies.
PS. Outsurance will want to look into Mr Addendagh's profiling of clients.
