Paying for insurance while car is in repairs

I have never had car insurance before so I am a novice at this. I bought my car August last year and the got me signed up with OUTsurance. While on the phone they offered me insurance with a premium of R2180and excess of R26500. I signed up for it even knowing the excess outrageous. 3 months ago a car drove into my car while it was parked. Contacted OUTsurance and the car was towed away.

The car was assessed and damaged costed more than R26500. They gave me a courtesy car for 1 month (30 days) which they initially wanted me to return earlier than the 30 days but I fought to keep it for 30 days. After the 30 days lapsed I took the car back then queried OUTsurance that since I do not have the car back can they extend the car rental. They refused and said it was not their problem that the car part has not arrived and that I should contact the car dealership. I contacted the dealership numerous times but they were not able to give me an eta of when the parts would arrive and also were not able to provide me with an alternative.

OUTsurance however were sending me a monthly email saying the car was still at the panel beater. Three months still carless and paying full price for my insurance I call OUTsurance to see what they can do about this. All they do is ask the panel beater when the parts would arrive then fold their hands.

Now after spending loads of money ubering around and dealing with the inconvenience of not having a car I start researching other insurance companies. It turns out that all other insurance companies charge less premiums and a much lower excess. I am still without a car and OUTsurance is causing me more stress than anything because I always need to contact them for anything to happen. I am not sure what I am paying for.

Added to this, I have complained to OUTsurance directly and they are supposed to contact me back but have not.

Hello ***ra

Further to our initial response to your review, we again wish to apologise for the inconvenience and frustration you have experienced up to now.
The delayed repairs, which have been caused by parts being on back order together with the supplier having sent incorrect parts, is most unfortunate.

You have since collected your vehicle and will return your vehicle once the last outstanding parts have been received.
Our claims manager contacted you and also discussed recourse with you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards
The OUTsurance Team
