Outsurance Will Pay You Less Than Your Car Is Worth. Do Not Insure With Them!!

I have been a client of Outsurance for years, and when it finally came time to claim after I was in a car crash, they are paying me out significantly less than my car is worth.

My car is insured for RETAIL value, but Outsurance are paying me out for trade value. They are claiming that the book value of the car is retail value. "The retail value is what your car would sell for if you were to buy it from a dealership. The retail price is usually also the closest value to the replacement cost of the car"

The price they want to pay me will not replace my car with the same model, not even close.

Do not insure anything with Outsurance, they will tell you at point of sale that your car is insured for the highest value of Retail Value, but when they pay out they will pay you significantly less than what it would cost to replace your car with the same car.

They claim to care about customers, but will leave you in a worse position than before, even when its not your fault. Rather choose another insurer and save yourself the trouble.

Reviewer Update
Hi there

It was already escalated. Originally you offered me R152k for my car, a 2015 ford eco sport 1.0 T with 91,000kms on the clock.

After complaining, your team came back with R172k. You cannot buy a 2015 eco sport from a reputable dealership for less than R190k.

The definition of “Retail Value” is the price you can buy a car for off a dealership floor. Your team is offering me trade price. I will be taking this to the ombudsman if you cannot offer me the cover you sold me.

Good day Guy,

Thanks for your further feedback.

Our claims team have discussed the matter in detail with you. The sum insured that we are paying is the retail amount which is based on the value in the Transunion auto dealers guide with an additional 10% adjustment, due to the overall condition and age of the vehicle.

We are sorry that the outcome did not meet your satisfaction but we can't assist any further.

Regards,
OUTsurance
