OUTSURANCE - WATCH OUT! Secondhand insurance at prime premiums!!
OUTSURANCE - Think twice before you join!!
My worst Outsurance experience yet! They have an loop hole to fit second hand or pirate parts on your car and get away with it. Although no where in the policy it states their intentions, they justify it under section of “they have the right to chose the repairer”. The guy who paints an assembles it does not make the part..! They even went so far as to get the ombudsman to make a statement that they have no problem with them doing so!! And this is under a full comprehensive cover that just got increased by 23% and then they degrade my repair.
The insist that it is moral and that they are putting you in the same position than you were before the incident….. - Then give me an policy with the underwriting stating the intention or right to use second hand parts (There is an Essential Cover option..:🤷🏼♂️) - I spend thousands taking care of my vehicles, knowing and ensuring the integrity of it and its parts. Then they want to fit a compromised part that laid exposed on a shelf or had water or internal impact damage! Why do suppliers then stock parts for cars that are years off the production line?! - In removing panels and parts that has been in place since manufacturing, is never put back it the same “position/condition” as before. Start rattling, shifting causing future wear…. That is not putting it back in the same condition….. nothing is ever the same after an accident.
I am sorry but I have lost all my respect, pride and trust in outsurance as a service provider that pride themselves in customer service!
Further to our private response on receipt of your complaint we can confirm that Lerato has been in contact with you.
We would like to mention that The Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance has given approval for all insurers to use 2nd hand or alternative parts for vehicles out of their factory warranty period.
This will only be for parts such as fenders, panels, lights etc. and not for safety parts.
The vehicle must be repaired to manufacturers specifications.
Lerato and our legal department will be in further contact with you to provide further feedback.

OUTsurance
