Outsurance warning!

I have had the worst experience with Outsurance, I have a damp issue in my bathroom which has effected my bedroom wall and floors as well as the kitchen cupboards downstairs. Outsurance sent a leak detector who could not establish a leak so they repudiated the claim. I then advised them that I would be cancelling my policy only to be then told they would get quotes done and then make a business decision to see if they could assist.

Three separate contractors were sent out to do assessments one for cupboards one for the floor and one for the walls, also the original leak detector couldn't find a leak so it was agreed a second leak detector would go out for a camera inspection. So far 4 leak detectors have been out 3 of whom are from the same company and still not finding a leak also no camera inspection was ever done. The frustration of my tenant needing to take off work each time and this issue going of for almost 4 months caused my tenant to move out, and now I'm told no leak so therefore the claim remains repudiated.

7 years ago I had a similar issue back then I was told the seal around the bathplug had perished its a wear and tear item so the claim will also not be entertained. It cost me to pull the bath and do the repairs, replaster the bedroom walls, retile the entire bathroom, repair the laminate floors and replace the damaged kitchen cupboards at my own expense, and now Deja Vu it's happening again only this time I still don't have a clue as to where the leak is coming from other than the insurance telling me the shower was installed incorrectly, I didn't build the house and strange no mention was made of that 7 years ago.

It just seems outsurance look for any loopholes to get out of entertaining claims, I guess offering cash rewards if they can't beat your existing premium that money needs to be recouped from somewhere. So just a heads up rather find a reputable insurer even if it costs a little more, at least get the service that you're paying for. I've been paying this policy since I bought the house 15 years ago and for what?

Hello Juan

The inconvenience and frustration you experienced, is most unfortunate and not what we wish for any client to go through.

Since you already referred the matter to the offices of the Ombudsman, we can not intervene.
We did provide you with feedback following our decision regarding the claim and are corresponding with the Ombudsman in the interim.
It needs to be said we have a peril based policy and will at all times settle valid claims.

Regards
OUTsurance
