Outsurance Settlement
I'm writing review regarding OUTsurance regarding their shenanigans policies that will never favour their customers in terms of claims. I purchased a house 2017 and moved in January 2018 was financed FNB Homeloan and appointed outsurance as my insurer. Early this year I started noticing cracks on the wall during the strict lockdown I started noticing that it's severe and need serious attention in the way some of the doors no longer closes because walls are separated so during level 3 I decided to notify outsurance they sent their agent to come evaluate the damages the agent told me they need to send engineer to inspect the house so their engineers came after inspection the engineer told outsurance will contact. On 14th August 2020 outsurance contacted me to say my claim are rejected that it's a downward movement of the land resulting to natural shift or human activity causing structural damage to my property or volume changes in any clay soil or rock caused by changes in their moisture or water contents. Can you see they're not sure of the cause only running away for my settlement/pay. They engineer never dug the foundation of the house to find out the real cause only assumptions. Outsurance should not denied claim based on assumption, they should come out with facts. They're terrible insurance I won't advise another person fall victims.
We understand the outcome of the claim is a major disappointment and are not at all insensitive to the financial loss you are incurring as a result.
We confirm our assessing manager, Zandi did discuss the engineer's report with you. She advised you that engineer did do a soil test and this was confirmed via photos which are on the report. She explained the findings of the report and why we have rejected the claim.
You have since referred the matter to the offices of the Ombudsman and we will await their ruling in the matter.

I invited another structural engineer to come and investigate of which I managed to pay for their call out and to go further I cannot afford to pay for their Geotech reports because it's expensive to carry out. They stated that before they carried out Geotech reports they need to bring their excavator to my house and dig more than 1 to 2 metre to see how how the soil layer is formed and take the soil to the laboratory for result because it's the laboratory will determine the type of soil that my property has. Also i visited ekurhuleni Geotech office they mentioned samething that I need structural engineer to come with excavator and dig and take the soil to the laboratory. So that's the point number one.
1. so how could your engineer your engineer use shovel and took my garden soil and put water to mix and say it's Geotech reports . How could that be but I think outsurance are too big to indulge in this kind of manipulation.
2. The added structure in my property cannot and will never affect the old structure by pulling it or cause it to settle/shrink point number one they're not using the same roof therefore has nothing to do with the old structure.
3. There's no where in my property where water is entering to the house the water your engineer found on the ground was the water for irrigating the garden which I'm the one who put it on to irrigate my garden and when I'm done I always off and is your engineer saying that water shouldn't touch the ground how does that sound on our ear and how could that be also what about the raining water it doesn't touch the ground.
3. The tree your engineer mentioned there was cut down last year by the professional tree feeling people and it's next to the added structure if it can cause any damage it should be the added structure which is next to it but added structure has no problem of wall crackings which if there's root problem it should lift up the added structure which there's none.
4. The flower tree in front of the house doesn't have tap root it just flower my plumber removed it the day he was fixing my water pipes bc the water pipe pass under it and it's not deep.
In conclusion I want to say that outsurance should do the right thing because all these your engineers report are flawed and has no truth in it and full of manipulation. Outsurance do the right thing.
