Outsurance Review
My car was hit by another vehicle a month ago. It has taken me 3 weeks to go through the Outsurance claims procedure. And another week to confirm that the repair will be done at the assessment cost - as they could not approve the 2 quotes I have provided them with. The assessed cost is half the value of the 2 quotes I received. Largely because Outsurance will repair with a second-hand part. Why is it acceptable that a claim procedure can take 1 month and why is it acceptable that was previously a new bumper will be replaced with a second-hand bumper? I have received extremely bad service and experienced a huge inconvenience which is extremely frustrating when this is a third party claim.

17 Jul 2019, 09:58Good day Laurelly,
Sorry to see you were struggling with our 3rd party claims procedure. Certainly worrying indeed.
We have contacted you to discuss the merits of the claim in detail. The Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance has given authorisation for insurers to use second hand parts on vehicles that are out of their factory warranty period. This is only applicable to parts such as panels, lights etc. no safety items such as suspension, brakes etc. The vehicle will be repaired to specifications.
Regards,
OUTsurance
