OUTsurance refusing R500 cashback despite eligibility

I am very disappointed with OUTsurance’s handling of my promotion claim.

I have been continuously insured with MiWay since May 2023 (over 2 years). On 13/09/2025, I only updated my existing policy due to a vehicle trade-in. This was not a new policy, just an amendment.

When I requested a quote, the OUTsurance agent had all my correct details and confirmed that since they could not beat my MiWay premium, I qualified for the R500 cashback offer. I was told this directly by the agent.

Now, OUTsurance is refusing to pay the cashback, claiming that my policy “started” on 13/09/2025, which is completely misleading. My continuous insurance history clearly makes me eligible.

This feels like false advertising and very poor customer service. I expect OUTsurance to honor the R500 cashback as promised.

Kind regards, Merilynne Soobramoney

Good day Merilynne,

We acknowledge receipt of your review and are sorry for the disappointment.

We have paid out millions in our quote promotion and will always honor the payment if its due. There are however Terms and Conditions attached to the promotion - r500_ts_cs.pdf.

Our quote promotion advisor will call you.

Regards,
The OUTsurance Team

Reviewer Update
Good day OUTsurance Team, Thank you for your response. I remain very disappointed with how this matter has been handled. When I provided all my details to your agent, I was assured of the promotion. If I did not qualify, the promotion should never have been offered. This reflects either a training issue or a gap in your systems to confirm eligibility upfront. To add to this, your Promotions Manager even suggested that the agent may have thought it was for phone insurance. This is unacceptable, as I had disclosed all my details clearly — there should be no room for such confusion. For me, this is not about the R500 voucher. It is about the principle and how OUTsurance chooses to deal with customers. If this is the standard of service and accountability, it gives me no confidence to ever consider OUTsurance for any future needs. I hope you will take this feedback seriously. Kind regards,
Merilynne
