Outsurance R400/R800 Promotion ****

On the 30th May 2018 I called Outsurance to obtain a quote for personal car and household contents insurance. During the process the consultant explained to me that I would be eligible for a R400 prize should Outsurance not be able to beat my current insurance cover on a like for like basis. In addition to this, I was advised that I would be eligible for another R400 if I did not have any car insurance claims in the last 3 years.

After the quotation process, the quote came up to more than what I was currently paying with my existing insurer, and when I asked about the process to claim my "prize", the consultant hung up the phone one me. I immediately called back and spoke to a different consultant by the name of Shelton, who explained the process to claim the prize and also said he would send me a promotional link to my email as well as an OTP to my cellphone in order to begin the prize claims process. The promotional link never arrived.

On the 2nd June, I called in to follow up and spoke to a consultant by the name of Dimpho Pule who said she would escalate the matter and said I would receive feedback by Wednesday 6 June 2018. This date came and went, with absolutely no communication from Outsurance about how to continue to claim my "prize".

Once again I followed up 12 June 2018 and spoke to a consultant by the name of Khumo Lekoto and told her the background story to my query. She then said she would take my details and have Refilwe follow up with me in 48 hrs. I was advised that Refilwe is the lady who is responsible for the R400/R800 promotion. I explained that I didn't trust the integrity of what she was saying, since this is the same story I was told by Dimpho Pule on the 2nd June. I requested to speak to a manager and was connected with Johno who introduced himself s one of the managers and agreed to escalate the matter on my behalf. In our discussion he said I would receive an email confirming the discussion and also the 48hr turnaround time...I then asked for an email address to follow up with should nobody contact me in the said time, and I was given the email address for Khumo. I even went as far as to provide an alternative email address.

Hours later, there was still no email from Khumo and I then drafted an email to remind her to send our agreement...only to find that the email address I was given does not exist. I am writing this review to make people aware that Outsurance seems to be running a **** with this promotion as they simply refuse to investigate the matter or take it seriously, instead they sweep things under the carper and play ********* delaying tactics by sending the prospective client from pillar to post in the hopes that they will not have to make good on their promise. I find this terribly insulting and very very ********* to encourage people to get quotes, then when they fail to beat the quote they become nasty and start being dishonest...as if they did not make the promise we are asking them to keep.

I am writing this review on principle and would like people to know that if Outsurance is able to play such dirty games when claiming for a prize, imagine how terrible the experience is when making an actual insurance claim, thus I am quite glad I am not their client. I have lost respect for the Outsurance brand and I am deeply disappointing that a brand I held in such high regard, would resort to such unbecoming tactics. Until Outsurance make good on their promise, or demonstrate accountability on the matter, I will consider the promotion a **** and ********* manner of generating business leads. The R400/R800 promotion is a lie, and people need to know.

It is not about the money, rather the principle. Outsurance should be ashamed. I'm not even a client of theirs, but they have managed to muddy the waters and leave me disgruntled. What a shame.

I have all my records of my review readily available, and intend to use other platforms available to me to warn people of this ****. In a society where we already have to be extra careful, it is sad that the ones we are supposed to trust seem to be the biggest ******.

Good day,

The bad service you have described goes against our service ethics.

We have contacted you to apologise for the bad experience and we will use this for coaching to ensure this does not happen again. The payment for participating in the promotion has been processed.

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to resolve the matter.

Kelvin

Reviewer Update
In the interest of fairness and transparency, I would like to confirm for anyone it may concern that the events as outlined in the Outsurance response are indeed accurate. I did receive a call from Kelvin, who conceded that my experiences as per the review, were indeed in contravention of the standards and acceptable service levels of Outsurance. I must also mention that in his concession showed a clear tone of sincerity and remorse. Furthermore I received a call from Refilwe, who helped to process my documents and also advised that I had met the criteria required to qualify for the prize. From the sales side, I received a call from Moss who introduced himself as one of the sales managers and also went on to apologise for the bad service demonstrated by the consultants who assisted me. In the end, the payout was indeed received into my bank account which is enough for me to reconsider my view on the R800 promotion being a ****. Although eventually the correct thing was done, I am still not convinced about the way the matter was reactively handled...so the truth is that Outsurance is far from winning me over. To be fair, I commend the efforts made by the team and I wish Outsurance all the best.
