OUTSURANCE PETS
STAY AWAY from OUTSURANCE PET INSURANCE. I have had a very bad experience with Outsurance Pet Insurance. I have 2 pets and a house insured with Outsurance. Both of my pets are on the standard plan which includes vet visits. Simon at Outsurance Pets tried very hard to sell me the Health Booster addition, which I eventually fell for. I was advised that the Health Booster benefit would come into effect 90 days after I took it out and that things like prescription food etc for chronic illnesses would be covered. After the 90 days I took my cat the vet and she suggested that my cat go onto a kidney diet as a precautionary measure as cats do suffer from kidney issues when they get older. As I had been advised by Simon from Outsurance that these things were coved by the Health Booster I felt this would be an ideal time to claim. The claim was surprisingly rejected and it annoyed me tremendously as this was one of the reasons I took out the additional health booster. I have since seen on Hellopeter that Outsurance Pets has been accused of this many times. PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT about exclusions. There are many, HEART, JOINTS, THYROID, KIDNEYS, CANCER etc etc. When this Health Booster benefit was sold to me I was only informed of a 90 day waiting period and was not informed of the exclusions. This is clear evidence of the sales person trying to push you into a quick sale without clearly explaining the fine print and exclusions and waiting periods. The brief email description of the benefit does not include all the exclusions and is misleading. If I had been made aware of what is stated in the full policy document regarding exclusions I would never have wasted my money on it. So watch out for greedy salesmen from Outsurance trying to sell you the Health Booster. The next issue I have with Outsurance is with regard to the STANDARD PLAN that includes VET VISITS. When the policy was sold to me I was told that the STANDARD PLAN is a plan that you pay more for because it included VET VISITS with NO EXCESS. So after over a year with OUTSURANCE they have decided that an EXCESS will now be charged on VET VISITS. The main reason I agreed to take out the STANDARD PLAN is because it provided for VET VISITS WITHOUT EXCESS to be paid. THINK TWICE about taking out a PET INSURANCE POLICY WITH OUTSURANCE unless you have the salesman explain ALL OF THE MANY EXCLUSIONS and be prepared for OUTSURANCE TO MAKE CHANGES AND ADD EXCESSES WHENEVER THEY FEEL THEY NEED TO MAKE MORE MONEY.
Further to our private reply, our claims manager Lelo, reviewed the sales call and concerns raised.
We have applicable waiting periods which were discussed telephonically and are explained in detail in your policy schedule.
Lelo has explained this in detail with you along with the introduction of our vet visit excess.
We are sensitive to your concerns and are sorry for the disappointment.
