Outsurance is the worst! Their Assessor resort to coercion
I was an Outsurance client in 2015 -2016 and again in 2017. In 2015, I had two car accidents i claimed for that were paid and a single incident that I didn’t claim for (as the damage was nominal and fixed by the dealership) that I informed the insurer about. So in total I had 2 claims. Subsequent to the cancellation of that policy, I got a home contents only policy with the same insurer in 2017. On this policy, I claimed for a laptop that had water damage and the insurance assessors were rather ***** during the entire process. They had issue with the fact that I hardly used my laptop (I had two others I used: one for work and another for school) which I used primarily for music because attempting to use Microsoft for MacBooks was a mess in 2017. Accordingly, they said that they would only pay for the claim should I sign a document stating that I am a multiple claimant, premised on the vehicle insurance I had in 2015. This was not only blatant coercion on the insurers part but the nature of the policy under which I had claimed had nothing to do with vehicle insurance. Further, the incident wherein I informed the insurer of a slight ding on my car was also included in their reason for attempting to list me as a multiple claimant, despite that incident not being submitted as a claim. I fought this matter in 2017/ 2018 and I thought it had been settled. In November 2024, I sought a quote from them and was given a premium of over R8000. The reason given was that I am a multiple claimant. This is despite having late last year sought a quote from them where no mention was made of such and the quote was not inflated. I was referred to a manager who said that they would sort out the matter by Monday, 18 November 2024 and I am yet to receive a response. I do not want insurance from this horrible company again but I cannot be retained as an alleged multiple claimant as it simply isn’t true and it is adverse to my insurance coverage. I am more than willing to take this to the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance and to pursue legal action exposing the lies told by this insurer together with suing for defamation and proving coercion. Outsance is the absolute worst.
