OUTSURANCE IS A ****

My house has been insured by outsurance since 2004 through FNB bond .i once submitted a claim for a leaking roof and I was told that it was a maintenance issue. After that I looked for a service provider to seal the leaks, and all the leaks were sealed . In March 2024 I finished paying for my bond however outsurance contacted me and offered to continue to insure my house . I reminded them of my experience with them with reference to the claim for my leaking roof claim that was turned down , the consultant I spoke to apologised on behalf of outsurance. Between July and August 2024 there were heavy storms in East London, I discovered that the roof in my garage was leaking and there was water inside. I contacted Outsurance and I submitted my claim . They sent an assessor , and they contacted me and told me that the reasons for the leaks were: 1. Poor workmanship wrt sealing of leaks 2. There is rust and the roof material is getting old They asked me for f the service provider that I used was one of their service providers, and I indicated that I am not even aware of who are their service providers, they claimed that if I would have used their service providers they would be able to follow up with him , however I was never told of that at any given time , only when they want to motivate for their reasons to disapprove my claim they are giving me a lot of excuses. I would understand if there was a moment when they came to do an assessment to my house before insuring it so that they are aware of the condition of the house, rather than telling me all these excuses now. I am highly disappointed and angry with them.

Good morning Nomnikelo,

Further to our private reply, on receipt of your complaint our claims manager Carl contacted you to address your concerns.

He discussed the reasons for our decision and the maintenance that is required for your roof.

We apologise for the disappointing outcome.

Regards,
The OUTsurance Team
