Outsurance - greed above loyalty
I have been a loyal customer of Outsurance for 7.5 years, even turning down other insurance quotes that were less than half of what I was paying them (over R1000 for a 2007 Hyundai H100). I thought it wise to stay with them, thinking that, as they are one of the larger insurance companies, I would have less problems if I had to claim. I had an accident 2 weeks ago which was my fault. I put in a claim and was told to take the car to an assessment centre, which I did. They then sent me an e-mail telling me that the vehicle was a write-off as it would cost R27 507 to repair. The retail value was R59 200. I had the option of letting them take it and paying me out a sum of R59 200 less an excess of R6 300 or keeping the vehicle and sorting out the repairs myself. If I kept the vehicle, they would only pay me out R19 501. This is R8 006 less than the supposed cost to repair. I am disgusted that after paying them over R90 000 over the years, they were not prepared to help me get my vehicle repaired. they also cancelled my insurance after an argument I had over the phone with one of their consultants. I can only advise anyone looking for insurance of any kind to avoid Outsurance.
