Outsurance
I have been with Outsurance since 2010 or 2011. In the period until present I had one claim for a burst geyser. My access in 2013/2014 time was R10-00 of which I paid was less than R1-00. My second geyser burst on Sunday 3rd of May. I called Outsurance to report the claim and told them there was no hurry because I have a second geyser in the house. Monday the 4th of May just before 9am a lady by the name of Mary called me to ask if I want to submit a claim. To my shock and horror I learnt that my access now is R2500-00. I refused to lodge a claim with that access and Mary said she will get a supervisor to call me. Today is the 10th of May and I am still waiting for the call. This experience raises many questions. I always believed insurance was a way to safeguard and replace goods and valuables lost, ****** or damaged. But I now believe companies like Outsurance believe that they just have the right to collect money from month to month, year to year and owe you no service whatsoever.
1) A new geyser does not even cost R2500-00. 2) Why offer a outbonus?? This practice should be outlawed. Insurance company should meet its responsibility and replace goods and valuables insured period. 3) How much do you collect and how much do you pay out on claims?
Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention.
You are 100% correct. Your excess amount was indeed R10.00 and was automatically corrected once a material change was made to your cover. This was a system error, which we cannot hold you accountable for.
Our claims manager, Tshepi contacted you, confirmed you will not be liable to pay the excess and a client care advisor will call you to update the cover going forward.
We are sorry the matter was not investigated properly when you enquired about this.
