Outsurance easily rejects claims!

on the 28th of December 2020 lighting hit very close to our house, actually hitting a tree and breaking branches that fell on our roof with sparks falling past the windows. We were busy watching a movie with our Xaomi tv box as well as our surround sound system, both in good condition when the lighting struck the tree close to our house. After the lighting hit, our alarm system went crazy and our power tripped immediately. My wife had such a fright she grabbed our youngest and ran to the bedroom thinking the tree is going to fall on top of our house. We waited a while before turning on the power again to make sure the lighting is gone and as we did we found our Xaomi tv box is not working as well as our panasonic surround sound. I lodged a claim with outsurance on the 29th of December 2020 and they advised me that the assessor will collect the items as its more than R10 000 for the damages if they need to replace it, the damage is R14 000. The Xaomi tv box was dead and the surround sound through out an F61 error and switches off immediately. Outsurance assessors (Appliance care) came to collect the items on 2021-01-04 to assess. The assessment report that outsurance got back from them were as follows. The Xaomi tv box is damaged beyond repair and was caused by LIGHTING. The Panasonic surround sound they say was opened before, used very longtime ago, ports are dusty (We stay on a farm right next to a gravel road!) and that we played the surround sound too loud so its WEAR AND TEAR and there is no sign of lighting damage, now how in the hell does the Xaomi show lighting damage but not the panasonic when we used them both at the same time when the lighting hit a tree right next to our house!!!! That is utter nonsense as i looked up the F61 error and its either faulty speaker wires, which it is definitely not or the powersupply has blown and on the panasonic i have, you cant find replacement parts. Now this is the second time that outsurance has rejected our claimed, the first was our tv which blew due to power problems on the lines, we were watching tv and the power tripped and came back a few times and when we switched on the tv it was dead, now the assessors that outsurance used is the same ones that picked up our surround sound and tv box and you guessed it, the TV was due to wear and tear! We left the tv claim as we didnt now any better even though deep down we got that idea that they were telling lies in order to reject our claim and not pay. I see Outsurance is doing this to alot of people so definitely do your homework first before considering to use them.

Outsurance is busy side stepping our claims and i am not happy about this at all!!!!
