Outsurance claims complaint
I have been with outsurance for around 15 years , I have never claimed and 2 weeks ago a lady jumped a stop street infront of us and we hit into her. #not our fault. Nevertheless I now put a claim in and after 2 weeks to be told that outsurance won't use our chosen panel beater as outsurance want us to use their selected panel beaters. They also mentioned using second hand parts on my vehicle which I find such a cheek. Paying so many years for insurance and this is the treatment I receive. Everytime we contact outsurance we get told they will contact us back but we don't hear from them and have to keep calling ourselves. It's been 2 weeks without a vehicle. They rave on ads about being so efficient and quick with claims. I will definitely be moving to another insurance company once my car has been repaired. Will never ever refer outsurance to anyone ever again and will share my bad experience to all.
Further to our private reply, on receipt of your complaint, our claims manager Lynnette contacted you to address your concerns.
The Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance has given approval for all insurers to use 2nd hand or alternative parts for vehicles out of their factory warranty period. This will only be for parts such as fenders, panels, lights etc. and not for safety parts. The vehicle must be repaired to the manufacturers specifications.
We have however authorised OEM parts in an effort to resolve your complaint.
