Outsurance Cancellation becomes personal. BE CAREFUL!!! WHEN CANCELLING

I decided to find cheaper insurance and King Price happened to give me a better premium including a better excess for the same cover offered by Outsurance. I call Outsurance to cancel and this is how it goes.

1. I call their cancellation department (Retention dept.) And they try to keep me on by offering me a really good premium lower than King Price I decide I'lll take it and I asked for the quote. When I look at the quote I realized they raised my excess to R17 000 just to get the premium lower than King Price. (This is almost double my normal excess)

2. (Feeling like an idiot) I call again to cancel and the most aggressive guy answers the phone trying to keep me with Outsurance by (*********ly) throwing King Price under the bus, speaking to me like I'm stupid and mentioning their claims with the Ombudsman is better compared to Outsurance and how Outsurance is better. He then started getting even more aggressive telling me that he doesn't understand how I can make a decision to leave Outsurance and to be honest it seems like he was trying to make me sound like I'm stupid for leaving Outsurance. I think I was stupid for even listening to this guy go on a rant about how ridiculous my decision is to leave Outsurance.

3. I tell the guy the start date of my new policy which is on the 1st and he goes on about the start date and how I'm not going to have proper cover after the first. After the long rant I decide I've had enough, I ask if I could speak to someone else or if he could just cancel my policy because I've had enough of him. He tells me the policy is cancelled and after logging a complaint I realize this guy made my final date of cover for the 21st. When actually he himself new my new cover date was the 1st.

Conclusion: I will not be covered for 9 days because this guy wanted to make this process personal and get back at me. I am supposed to be insuring a motorcycle with them but that's definitely not happening. And yet I was calm I was respectful but nothing was stopping him from trying to make my last experience with Outsurance the worst.

If you decide to go with Outsurance let this article be a point to note if you decide to switch insurance one day, how respectable, ethical and understanding would the insurer be? Would he try to attack your character and become irate or would he want to leave you with the best experience so you can one day still insure other items with them. The choice is yours.
