Outsurance Assessor goes shopping and decline home owners claim - Revenge ?
Thirteen years ago my home was purchase and Insurance was taken out as per normal procedure. No exclusions were noted on my policy For the past 13 years I have paid my insurance and Outsurance collected. Normal maintenance was done and is still visible upon inspection. With the rain of the past month my ceilings have collapsed, damaging cupboards etc damaged. I called Outsurance as I have done in the past - Load shedding caused circuit breaker damage
The Assessor changed the time as she was running early - only to pitch up late as she went shopping. Stuff the Client - Outsurance wont know and she does not care
The Assessor started off by claiming no maintenance was done - despite me showing her the opposite. Next is that my roof is defective - The pitch is 3 degrees . Pardon me with highschool maths but the pitch on my roof is not 3 degrees . Flat roofs have a pitch of less than 5 degrees and my roof is definitely not flat. - Quotation of yesterday measured the pitch at 11 degrees - Civil engineer
For the past 13 years the roof pitch was adequate to sustain the rain and to collect a premium from me ; but now it is flat.
Furthermore the Assessor have no building or Civil engineering qualifications - barely introduced herself. Her goal this morning was to decline my claim and to poison the pot as can be seen from the response of her direct supervisor - Obviously omitting the shopping trip of this morning on company time.
Talking to management - At least we are now looking at the non existent exclusions from when the home was purchased. The same attitude however is maintained . Where to next is my question ?
Now I am asking Is it worth having home insurance ? How can a roof comply to standards for 13 years and only when there is a problem became defective - No building alterations were done in the past 13 years. And most of all roof pitches are not excluded in the policy document I have available. So how is it possible that this Assessor can decline my claim without necessary grounds.
Why does an illiterate person get the power to motivate that a claim be declined ?
Looking at documentation - The roof pitch which was there since the property was purchased was not excluded. Initial home inspection approved the home construction.
No where have they stated that the pitch is not adequate or that it has to be changed. Annually a new policy is sent out. In 13 years no call has been made to verify and update their information.
Yet to claim - No this roof does nor comply to Outsurance standards - Should that standards not be in the Policy documents ?? And how does home owners protect themselves against the actions of a vengeful Assessor ? , Utterly disappointed in this treatment
