Outsurance always tries to find ways to decline a claim with useless reasons

OUTSURANCE DOESN’T STICK TO THEIR PROMISE

Claim Number: ********** 75 Comm Code: **********

Never think about joining OUTSURANCE, or else you’ll regret it when claiming period arrives. They always search for obstacles in order to deny your claim during the claim period, they don’t do research about you before they take your first installment from your bank account.

In August 2016 I joined OUTSURANCE covering my Home Contents and Out & About contents. I covered my DJ Sound System with OUTSURANCE - Out & About for an amount of R250, 000.00 and as well as my Home Contents to the same value (R250K).

06 December 2016, around 8:45 PM, my car was parked outside my friend’s place. I even insisted to park it closer to the kitchen window because there was no parking space inside the yard. Heavy rainfall and loud music made me not to hear my car’s alarm coming on or becoming suspicious about anything. The moment I left the building, walking towards my vehicle, I found my car’s doors wide open and the passenger window broken into. My DJ material (Pioneer CDJ 900 Nexus X2 + Pioneer DJM 750 + Beats Headphones) & my Macbook laptop went missing. They were definitely inside my boot, nothing was displayed on my car seats. Same night I reported the matter to the SAPS and a case number was given out.

I then submitted my claim to OUTSURANCE, my claim was registered and an assessor came to visit me in order to assess this claim of mine. She recorded our conversation and took pictures of the rest of my DJ Sound System. I provided enough evidence of all the purchase receipts and boxes of some other stuff that I own. Same day the assessor paid my friend a visit to continue with her questioning and recordings.

We both told the assessor the very same thing about the night of the incident, but she kept asking my friend useless questions like "Was the DJ system sitting on the back seat or boot?" and even asked him "What are the things that disappeared from my car's boot?" I mean how the hell will my friend know what’s inside the boot.

Now I received a rejection letter, telling me that I wasn’t honest from the first day I took out this policy. But why are they telling me this now? Right after paying my monthly R1500 premiums and this is what I get…

Like I said “They always search for obstacles in order to deny your claim during the claim period, they don’t do research about you before they take your first installment from your bank account”

They tell me that the moment a consultant was registering me for this policy, the consultant asked me “Did I ever have an Out & About claim with my previous insurer?” I said no, because the way I understood the question, it’s like the consultant asked me have I ever registered a claim with my “DJ Sound System” with my previous insurer. I said no because it was for the first time I insured my DJ Sound System and I insured it with them, secondly what does my previous cellphone and laptop claim with my previous insurer have to do with all of this? I understand that it is part of their job to dig deeper, but such a stupid misunderstanding shouldn’t cause my claim to be rejected. They admit to the fact that I owned the devices that was ******, but my claim is rejected due to not saying the "YES" and they down care. I tried to speak to them and explained the way I understood that lame question that caused my claim to be rejected. They just don’t buy my story, but they know how to convince people to joining the OUTSURANCE FAMILY without digging deeper based on the answers the client has provided them with.

These people are so unbelievable, my ****** stuff caused me nearly R100.000 and they just don’t care about the amount of money that I’ve lost. They tell me that they are satisfied with the evidence of ownership, but telling me that I **** to them regarding my previous Out & About claims with my previous insurer.

If this is how Outsurance treats their clients, also rejecting claims unnecessarily without any good reason, that will leave me no choice but to file a lawsuit against them.

Peter I hope that this complain will help, I can't afford to lose R100K just like that

Hi Molefi,

Sorry to hear about this very unfortunate loss. Jay our claims manager did call you to discuss the rejection. Reason for the rejection was a lack of information provided to us at sales stage.

Regards,

Kelvin
