OUTSURANCE
I Contacted OUTSURANCE due to storm damage on my roof of my house and cottage. They send out a assessor who assessed the damage and after submitting his report the claim was rejected. He also told me that he could see that the roof has been maintained , but there was a few spots that needed care, he motivated same to OUTSURANCE and still the claim was rejected. Why do we take out insurance if that is the case, easy to take your monthly premium and the just so easy when you want to claim, it is rejected. I got my own contractor out to assess as well and he was surprised that OUTSURANCE has rejected the storm damage claim. As for the age of my house and the condition it gets maintained regularly , I feel this is unfair to me as the consumer!!! Why do they cover older houses if they are not going to fulfill their obligations towards their customers, again easy to take there money , but not easy to deliver on their service and promises!!!
We don't blame you for expressing your disappointment. We understand the financial impact the outcome of the claim has on you and are not insensitive to this at all.
Our assessing manager contacted you. She discussed the endor*****t of your roof which followed your hail claim of last year. This was a result of lack of maintenance. You did state you would obtain an independent report, which we to date never received.
The damage was not caused by a storm, but lack of maintenance. The roof leaked due to deteriorated waterproofing and roof nails coming loose. We also discussed our policy, pointing out which are covered perils and which events are not covered.
Thank you for affording us the opportunity to have discussed your concerns.
