Outsurance, 7moths turnaround time on claim

I have been with Outsurance for over 5 years, and before that for over 10 years. Living in Gordons Bay, the windstorms in our area is a regular and well known occurrence. In October 2017, I logged a claim for wind damage to my Property after one of these serious storms, specifically for damage to my Roof, Roof Awnings, Aluminium Gutters, motorized gates ripped out of the concrete and some broken windows. After the initial assessment within 7 days from reporting the incident, the motorized gates were repaired in less than 10 days, however the rest of the repairs are still outstanding. After a tremendous amount of phone calls to Outsurance, during the 7 month period, a company came out last week (09 to 13/04/2018) to erect scaffolding to commence with the repairs, however the contracted company were only able to fix the awnings, since they are infact a plumbing company sent to do building repairs. Today after countless more calls to Outsurance, the scaffolding company is back to breakdown the scaffolding, without anyone attending to the serious stuff like the gutters and loose roof plates. Furthermore, as the customer of Outsurance, I have to find a company, myself, who deals in Aluminium gutters, since Outsurance does not have such a company on their books.

This leads me to believe that Outsurance is not a suitable insurance company for the Helderberg area. Besides the absolutely ridiculous 7month period to complete relatively simple repairs, Outsurance does not seem to have the relevant contractors assigned for the windy Helderberg area. I will certainly be cancelling my service with Outsurance upon completion of this claim.

Hello ***

We cannot blame you for being dismayed at all. Given the very long time it has taken us to finalise all incident related repairs together with the poor response you received, you are not being unreasonable at all.

We sincerely apologise for the major inconvenience and massive frustration you have experienced up to now.

Our assessor has set up an appointment to meet with you tomorrow and all concerns since discussed with our assessing manager, will be addressed.

Thank you for your further patience in this unfortunate matter.

Regards

Dinky
