Outsurance 3rd party claim refusing to settle damages
I claimed a 3rd party insurance from Outsurance after their client bumped into my parked Vehicle. They assessed the car from the pictures and provided a report with the settlement amount to repair the car. I got different quotes that were higher than their's. Speaking to their Legal department (Lancelot Segola) he was so quick to dismiss benchmarking with other quotations. He said they have their own service providers who offer far less competitive prices due to bulk business offered by Outsurance. I accepted the offer and that I would take the car to their recommended panelbeater on condition that if there are unforseen damages, Outsurance will cover. They were very quick to pay after I signed.
Guess what 😳, the car was stripped and there was more damage. Outsurance now runs away from the responsibility citing that there are older damages. Now they are refusing to fix my car even though there's every proof of their client bumping into the stationary vehicle.
I will pursue this matter further but I want to warn someone against this ****gish behaviour which I experienced. 1) You are offered cash settlement to fix your car for a Third Party Insurance. 2) Never sign any settlement offer for the car that has not been stripped and assessed properly, otherwise you will be taken for a ride just like me. 3) The settlement offer will be less compared to market related rates. Don't attempt to take it to your panelbeater, let them do the work. Also be careful, they might be colluding with their service providers in an attempt to suppress you from claiming anything further which you're entitled to.
Write now I'm utterly disappointed how Outsurance handles 3rd party claims. I will explore all legal avenues to deal with this cruelty, selfishness and exploitation. I paid for my own towing to get the vehicle to the panelbeater and after all I must rent a car from my own pocket. Outsurance states that they don't reimburse or pay for those cost. The question is who must suffer the consequences and financial losses for someone who decides to drive into you while you're parked. This must be challenged.
I will not rest until I explore all avenues to ensure that my vehicle is reinstated to the condition that it was before the accident.
