Out with OUTsurance

I’ve always listened to and seen OUTsurance’s advertising with interest — promising lower premiums and better value. But after getting a quote recently, I can’t help but feel misled.

I’ve been with Santam for years. I drive a 2018 model vehicle, pay around R1000/month for insurance — with no excess at all. I’ve had two incidents in the past, and Santam settled both claims smoothly and fairly.

Now here comes OUTsurance with their offer:

R1200/month without excess

R1800/month with excess

So not only is it more expensive, it comes with an excess unless I pay even more.

Thanks for the R500, but let’s be honest — your "you always get something out" slogan doesn’t hold up here. In fact, it feels like a case of false advertising — especially in today’s economy, where every rand counts and households across all income levels are under pressure.

I’ve been insured by others before Santam, and none of them matched this level of value and service either. So no — your offer isn’t the best out there, and it’s time to stop misleading people with blanket promises that simply don’t stack up when put to the test.

Good day Gino,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to quote you.

Premiums are risk profile dependent and for that reason will vary. There are a number of factors that we take into account when determining the appropriate premium for a client such as age, make and model of vehicle, previous incidents, insurance history and many other factors.

Please note, all our adverts are based on actual profiles. It is worth pointing out that no single insurer will be the cheapest for every single client as risk models differ between insurers. We offer savings to many clients. Unfortunately, we don't always save everyone money. Our sales manager will be in touch to address your concerns.

It's a pity we couldn't offer you a saving.

Regards,
The OUTsurance Team
