One of the worst Outsurance experiences to date
I had the unfortunate experience of using a Rental car from a panel beating shop over December when a truck driver in STILL STANDING traffic got distracted / day dreaming and decided to start driving and bumped my car on the back. I had to pay R5000 excess to the Panel beater EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT. The truck driver, like me, also has his insurance with Outsurance. What a blessing I assumed. I managed to get the truck driver to open a claim so I could file a claim with Outsurance to get my R5000 excess refunded. They told me they could refund me my R5000 excess but then I need to pay the full claim amount for the vehicle repairs to the Panel Beater for his car that was damaged. I had no words for this interesting logic they app****, what a stupid way of working.
It is actually very easy: 1. Refund me my R5000 excess I paid to the panel beater 2. Pay the panel beater his part minus my R5000 that I already paid him to get his car fixed
This is really not rocket science. It has now been a month since I started this process and being an existing customer with Outsurance I thought I would get more support / good service / ANY feedback from them, BUT NOTHING!!!
This is the kind of nonsense that makes you realize you are just a number in a system.
Hello Cnigrini
We fully understand your frustration and apologise for not having communicated our limitations and procedures properly.
Our liability claims manager contacted you and explained there are certain processes in place we need to follow when dealing with a 3rd party claim. She also offered to establish the detail of the rental company's insurers and provide you with their detail in order for you to claim your excess from them directly.
Thank you for your understanding and accepting our apology.
