Old dog of no value to Outsurance

Outsurance has increased the monthly fee on the insurance on my dog which I have had since 2022 by R429,85 - from R529,75 to R959,60 because the primary dog on the policy is getting old, according to the agent who contacted me when I queried it. This is what the notification of the increase states: How do we calculate your premium? Whilst some factors don't necessarily apply to every client, we take the following into account when calculating your premium:  Previous claims and premium non-payments  Improvements in risk factors, which influence risk profile(s), as well as general trends in claims frequencies  Where applicable, we’ve increased the value of your cover in line with inflation. It then has the cheek to try and upsell me to an even more expensive option by upgrading. Clearly, 12 years of minimal claims is not factored in when they decide that an old dog is going to go to the vet more often. Be warned. Do not let your dog get old. The policy is through Checkers.

Hello Ed

Further to our initial response to your review, we received feedback from our client care manager, confirming she was in contact with you.

The increase and loss ratio were explained and the revised premium was discussed, but you sadly decided to cancel your cover with us. We are sorry you are no longer a client of ours and wish you all the best for the future.

Regards
The OUTsurance Team
