Not valuing motorbike correctly

Ive been insured with Outsurance for sometime now with my motor vehicle. The service was generally ok as far as insurance goes. Upon insuring a Motorbike and sending all documentation through, Outsurance failed to value the bike correctly by under valuing it by R30k. I had an accident in July and the bike went for a repair valuation. The valuation came back as a write off which I agreed with. When asked how the bank settlement would go, they informed me that the bike was insured for R35k. I queried this and they worked out a new valuation to R52k. When asked how they got this value, I was informed that they did a google search for the bike as their knowledge of bikes is limited. I then sent through the purchase documents and the bank settlement as well as a Transunion report of the bikes year and model and the closest valuation they could get get. Outsurance then informed me that they regardless of these documents they would not change the value and the call agent Mary Bokaba was very rude and told me to try my luck with the Ombudsman.

I find this service distasteful after I had to go out my way to prove the value of the bike and then to hear that these would disregard. This matter if going into its fourth month now and the bike is sitting at the panelbeaters with nobody having any knowledge of the next steps to take.

I will be closing my account with them and all colleagues that have motorbikes will be looking for a new insurer.

Good day,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Thapelo our claims manager contacted you to apologize for the incorrect value given and explained why the initial value was given. Thapelo then discussed the new value with you which you were happy with.

Thanks, Kelvin
