No Quote Given as Advertised

Please note the below complaint was emailed to your complaints email and has had no response after nine days.

I requested a quote online and soon received a call from Outsurance.

The representative was super helpful, asked all needed questions, did a credit check and gave me a verbal rand-value quote in the region of R450.

I asked him to please send me the quote via email, and that I did not want to make any immediate purchases or decisions whilst on the phone. He was very persuasive, and would not agree to email the quote and instead tried to get me to agree on the phone. I was very firm and said I would like to sleep on the decision.

Even after saying "high-pressure sales techniques will not work on me", he still did not send me the quote and continued to talk in circles about how Outsurance is the best choice and why I should take up the offer. After 32 minutes of wasted time, I put down the phone on him.

This is disgusting. Outsurance cannot do credit inquiries on people, and then not give them a quote as promised.

I was 95% sure I would go with outsurance once I received a quote, but after being treated like that by your staff, I am weary. Is it normal to pressure people into making impulse purchases? That behaviour gives insurance companies a bad name.

Thank you
