Nightmare and costly experience with Outsurance
My experience with Outsurance and Platinum Autobody in Pietermaritzburg has been nothing but a nightmare. In October 2017 I hit a pothole which spanned across the whole lane. My car was towed to Pietermaritzburg and Platinum Autobody was the Outsurance approved panel beater to work on my car. After I received my car back I realised that there was still a lot wrong with the car. I took the car for an alignment test and it was found that the rim which was supposed to be repaired was not repaired, the shocks were damaged and the back sub frame had damage. I also saw that suddenly the side mirror has been damaged and changed to some other car’s mirror. After many calls I finally got Outsurance to Re-assess the car. Since my first call to complain 3January they have finally realised last week that I am not talking nonsense. I was given a courtesy car and I was told they would contact Platinum about the payment of the car. I was also told that they would extend the rental of the car till my car has been fixed. This Monday I found out that the panel beaters still have not received authorisation to repair the car. I called Outsurance and my usual advisor was not in and someone else had to help me. He told me that he extended the car hire and that he was sending the authorisation through to the panel beaters. I went to the Panel beater on Wednesday and they told me they still have not received authorisation. I once again called Outsurance and was told they were manually sending the authorisation. Today I called Avis and the panel beater. Avis told me the car hire is till Saturday 24 Feb and it was not extended and the Panel Beater told me they have not received authorisation as yet. Now a lady from Outsurance called me and said she spoke personally to the panel beaters. She cannot give me any information if they would extend the rental car as yet. My problem is that Outsurance is dragging their heels and this car could have been repaired by now then the problem with the courtesy would not have happened. The first week after receiving the rental car I have tried to get them to re-asses the car since they only authorised a new shock on the left but there was more wrong which the assessment report has shown in the end. Then it took more than a week to get the car properly assessed. So already 3 weeks was over and now at the end of the 4th week only does the panel beater hopefully receive authorisation. But the courtesy car is supposed to be returned in 2 days. With all the phone calls I have had to make to Outsurance, Avis and Panel Beaters, Petrol pend to drive to the Panel Beater which is more than 50km from me, this has turned into a very costly nightmare!
