Nefarious Advertising
I just need to warn the public who are intending to take up the challenge, which OUTSURANCE puts out to entice prospective clients to ostensibly sign on with them and transfer your business. In the advert, they claim that if they cannot better what you are currently paying on your car insurance, they commit to paying you R1500, if you had been claim-free for more than three (3) years with your current insurance company. You then have to send–off the SMS, requesting a callback. It is, however, one of their rules that should they not be able to beat your premium and they do have to honour their obligation, the caveat is that you can only take up the challenge after six (6) months. This is acceptable. However, if you had taken up the challenge and they after consecutive six-month cycles, cannot beat your premiums, they then put a note on their system. The note on the system is to the effect that “You, the particular person” is prohibited from participating in the challenge, without any valid reason. They however do not inform you of this development beforehand. However, when you send through the SMS as advertised on all platforms. One of their consultants will still promptly call you and take you through their 30-minute compulsory underwriting consultation. Needless to say, again they cannot beat your premium, but they then only tell you at the end of the 30-minute consultation that you do not qualify for, as per the notes on their system. Effectively wasting your time but it is no skin off their back. The promotion still runs on the various platforms to this day and there is no mention that "Prospective Clients" would be subjected to untold frustration in the event that they choose to take the challenge. I, therefore, feel it prudent to warn prospective clients responding to the challenge to ascertain upfront whether there are any “notes” on their system before wasting your valuable time. I can only surmise that they do not intend to honour the promotion and will do anything to frustrate you and ultimately not pay out.
We acknowledge receipt of your complaint. We have requested our quote promotion manager to call you.
We are sorry for the disappointment.

They let patronising agents call and waste more of your time.
Just telling you 15 times how sorry they are.
That's it!!
They would not want the public to see their written admission of wrong doing, coz it might lead to an avalanche of the similar complaints, as I cannot believe that I'm the only one.

The reason for our private reply was a mere courtesy to acknowledge your complaint and also to inform you we will revert with proper feedback.
Gina from our Promotion team contacted you after having audited the relevant sales call and provided you with the relevant feedback. She also pointed out that our ads correctly state Ts & Cs need to be met. We however understand your frustration, as you were initially told we will make the payment if we cannot beat your current premium.
A decision was however made to have you participate in the promotion, as we could have been more informative about the Ts & Cs and thank you for affording us the opportunity to have clarified as well as your understanding.
It also needs to be said that our advisors provide quotes to clients who wish to take out insurance and not for participating in the promotion as a primary focus.
