Leaked information and contravention of the Privacy Act - POPI

I went onto the Hippo.co.za site and wanted to do a compare of quotes. Nowhere did i state i wanted to be contacted in anyway. After an hour or so insurance companies started phoning me.. even with the exact details of the vehicle i was enquiring on. Outsurance, is one of them and they havn't stopped since - about 4 calls already - i have already bought the vehicle and already got my insurance sorted out. this is just ******* according to the Privacy act

NEVER EVER USE THESE PEOPLE !!

Yes, I did ... just read what she typed: and please tell me this is right: Some of the people that we contact are those who are looking at purchasing a home or a car and have app**** for finance where a credit check was done. This is how we obtained your information from Transunion. You are admitting getting information from Transunion - Who gave you the authority and permission to get information from Transunion and who gives Transunion the authority and permission to give my details to you - especially if I did not state I wanted to be contacted - and there is no place that I gave you the permission to get information from Transunion in the first place... You \ OUTsurance are are fault ...

We appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration. Melissa did explain further in her e-mail that the consent existed from prior contact and now that you have revoked your consent, we will not receive any further information. We have also added your details to our do not contact list.
