Insurance doesn't cover

I was involved in a 4-car pile up and was car number 3. Outsurance settled the claim for MY damages, but REJECTED the claim of the person I bumped (car number 4). I was always under the impression that my insurance would cover the third party's damages!!! Now this person is suing me for his damages, because Outsurance won't pay him. I feel disillusioned and probably will change my insurance
