Insurance dissatisfaction
In April this year we lost everything in the floods. My contents were insured with Outsurance and my structure is insured with SA Homeloans. Outsurance decided to send their assessors on a holiday due to it being easter etc... and no one came out to my house to view the damages incured except Sa Homeloans who were on the ball. Outsurance after being slanded on Facebook decided to pay me my total sum insured and i agreed to it. Then Outsurance sent their salvage team to take the contents but decided to take stuff that was not insured by them and also not insured like the hobs, extractors, gas stoves, and ovens. Now they twll us that they cannot give us our stuff back because they sold them and also cannot replace them as we signed off on it. We experienced major trauma and was not thinking clearly and we lost everything. They made money from people who lost everything. Sa Homeloans doesnt want to replace these items either as they say they cannot replace anything thats not present at my residence. This is totally unacceptable as these items were insured by Sa Homeloans.
We have done everything possible to finalise our clients' claims arising from these disastrous floods as quickly and efficiently as possible and did the same for you from the onset.
Our claims manager, Warren had amicable discussions with you after you lodged your claim. During a discussion, you informed us all your contents were damaged, which resulted in us settling the maximum amount you had your contents insured for and you agreed we become the owners of the items.
Our claims manager from our salvage department contacted you this afternoon, after having audited all relevant calls and documentation received.
The service providers who collected the salvaged items, stipulated the oven, hob and extractor fans were also damaged and since none of these items were plugged in, were also collected. Your wife signed the document in agreement.
Treating all clients fairly, is priority and we confirm having finalised your claim correctly.
